SERVICE STATIONS
Africape started its journey into the property sector with service station properties in the late 90’s. Today the group owns a portfolio of more than fifteen service station properties mainly in the Northern Cape and Western Cape.
Many of the sites were redeveloped or complete greenfield projects to develop properties that encompassed offerings that include strong convenience elements such as branded forecourt stores and quick service restaurants.
Successful alliances have been formed with the Caltex and Sasol brands for Fuel, with Fresh Stop and OK Foods for convenience stores and also with fast food brands such us Burger King, KFC, Vida E, Mcdonald’s and SPUR.
Africape continues to see service station properties as a key growth area building on its current model of fuel coupled with strong convenience elements.
A further five services stations have been earmarked for the next two years of which two are currently in development and with several more in the pipelines.
RETAIL & COMMERCIAL
Africape has a fifteen year track record of developing retail shopping centres and has during this time completed over a dozen convenience retail malls with anchors such a Shoprite, SPAR, Pick n Pay and various other blue chip South African retail brands.
Africape’s niche is to focus on convenience centres ranging from 8000m2 to 15000m2 and developing centres that cater for the needs of surrounding communities with FMCG retail, clothing, food and adjacent fuel service stations.
On entering the retail property space the group’s strategy was to develop and sell,
however, this strategy has recently changed and the Group is now growing its rental
portfolio. The current focus is on properties is in the Western Cape but Africape also has a keen interest in expanding its footprint into other provinces s currently exploring various opportunities in this regard.
Other commercial properties in Africape’s portfolio includes various industrial buildings and as well as Fuel storage facilities for use of by the Groups Fuel division.
DEVELOPMENTS
Africape has a bespoke division that focusses on property developments. Our team has extensive experience of every aspect of property development, from concept and design to construction to letting. With an experienced team that has completed several successful projects Africape is well resourced to tackle both commercial and residential developments.
The group has longstanding, strong alliances and relationships with a range of professionals that we consider as some of the best in the business. This includes architects, quantity surveyors, traffic specialists, construction companies, letting agents and a range of complimentary professionals that are key role players to any successful property development.
Africape aims to always be innovative creating practical, efficient and sustainable developments, whilst always respecting and simultaneously empowering the communities in which it operates.
RESIDENTIAL
After several successful commercial projects Africape expanded its scope to include opportunities with residential developments. The group embarked on its first residential project, comprised of 178 units, in 2019.
Supported by its well developed resources and flexible professional teams that have for several years contributed to Africape’s success in the commercial space, the group is well poised to embark on several upcoming residential projects in the short to medium term.
Strong alliances with specialists in design, construction as well as residential sales and rentals ensures that any new projects are properly vetted and meet strict investment and risk criteria before they are embarked on.
At the same time our creative and architectural teams ensure that every opportunity is not only aesthetically pleasing but also completely practical, energy efficient, eco focussed and environmentally friendly.
The immediate focus is to build for resale but rental stock may well also be considered as an opportunity for the long term.
